Sounz

Social media platform for music collaboration

Sounz is a social media platform tailored for music composers to showcase their work, discover others’ compositions, and collaborate. It supports audio and video uploads, featuring an interactive home feed with captions and descriptions. The platform fosters a creative community by enabling seamless exploration and connection among musicians.

what we've done

Musicians often face challenges in collaborating effectively due to limited tools for teamwork in traditional music composition systems. As a result, many musicians resort to generic social media platforms as a temporary solution.
However, available platforms may not fully meet the specific needs of musicians.
To address this issue, we’re introducing a social media platform designed specifically for music learning and collaboration. This platform aims to enhance the collaborative music-making experience and foster a stronger artist community by providing musicians with a dedicated space to work together, share ideas, and learn from each other.

how we work

We used the Iterative Model to build Sounz, which meant we built the platform in small steps.
Here’s how it went:
We started by figuring out what we needed to do, like letting users log in, upload media, and see their home feed.
First, we made a basic prototype that just worked for user registration, logging in, and uploading simple media.
We kept testing the prototype and getting feedback from users to find any problems and add new features.
As we kept doing this, we made the platform better and better by adding more features, like letting users put background thumbnails on their media, letting them comment on each other’s media, and using an algorithm to suggest people to collaborate with. This way, we kept improving the platform without having to make a big mistake.
